  1. Tom's Right Says:

If you listen to the questioner, she saying if everyone has to sign up for this health care, are you, Yes or No? You’re not going to have to sign up for the public option. Perriello is now on the government plan, which includes private company choices. This is only while he is serving as a Congressman. We can keep our health insurance private plan. Yet, if we lose it, as others who lose theirs can, we have the private option which will be much more affordable.
No One is Being Forced Into the Public Option!
Capitalism is alive and well, and Socialism is not on the horizon!

“Yet, if we lose it, as others who lose theirs can, we have the private option which will be much more affordable.” I believe you meant public option, which is a socialist form of health care. Therefore socialism is on the horizon.

      • Tom's Right Says:

Yes, I meant that within the Health Insurance Exchange there will be plans from Private Insurance Companies as well as the Public Option. The Health Insurance Exchange will offer overall choices for more affordable insurance. Tom Perriello gets government insurance coverage through a private insurance plan while he’s in office. If you have insurance you’re happy with, you aren’t mandated into the Health Insurance Exchange.
With so many choices this is not socialism….there is still a competitive mix just like there is in Medicare.

      • blueridgeguy Says:

How competitive can it be when the government is setting all the rules that the companies have to follow. But you are right it is not socialism it is fascism. Privately held companies controlled by government equals fascism.

    • Sandy Says:

TR- You have some misconceptions, such as “This is only while he is serving as a Congressman.” Every Congressperson enjoys perks that the majority of private sector people will never see.

You can see that the longer someone serves in Congress, the bigger the pensions and benefit levels become. Please make sure to note, in the above information, that we the taxpayers are paying 80% towards his pension, known as government subsidies. He is paying very little for his health insurance plan, and he will retain that level of care, and cost, as he will not be included in the “Public Option.”

Listen to Tom, and yourself, when you use the term “Health Insurance Exchange.” What does that mean to you? To me it means that only those insurance companies that can survive, and offer private plans, will be government controlled and mandated companies such as Freddie Mac ond Fannie Mae. The Government, with all it’s wisdom, and mandates required those, at one time privartely owned companies, to insure mortgages (sub-prime) to people who had no ability to pay them back. I’m sure you haven’t missed the “sub-prime mortgage crisis.” The Government steped in, much the same as with the Investment Banks, and has to bail them out, with taxpayer dollars. The government now owns and rules Freddie, Fannie, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, and every other entity that got bailout money. That is clearly creating a crisis in order to have a backdoor for government takeover. They did the same with Chrysler and General Motors, which the government now owns the majority of stock in.
Please do not be fooled into believing that any company, who has to play by the governments rules, can only charge what the government allows them to charge, must cover what the government demands they cover, can stay in business as a private company. They will go out of business. What is the incentive for anyone to play that game? Oh, the government may have different company names they will use, to make you believe that you are making your own choice, but, they will all be operating by government rule.

You said above that there would be choices just as in Medicare. There are fewer and fewer doctors that are now accepting Medicare patients, or they are seriously limiting the number of patients they will take. The government sets the fee schedules that they will pay for every visit or procedure. The doctors are then only paid 80% of the fees they have set.
Many Medicare patients have, and pay high premiums for supplemental insurance for those over 65. It is to cover the 20% that Medicare does not pay. The insurance companies also pay according to a fee schedule. Will you please tell me why any government would “require” those turning 65 to sign up for Government sponsored Medicare? They are told that they will not get their Social Security checks if they do not sign up. The program has been insolvent for many years already, and the situation only gets worse as time goes on. I read recently that Medicare is already $484 billion dollars in the hole. Why would you want the same government, that cannot handle medical care for only a segment of the population, to run healthcare for everyone. Do you realize how much more money you will be taxed to pay for this “Public Option” and the rest of the plan? If you pay lower premiums, but lose a big chunk of your pay in taxes, where are you ahead?

To say that “capitalism is alive” and “socialism is not on the horizon”, and support Government Run healthcare proves that you have not looked up the meaning of those words. Capitalism is the free market, without government interference and mandates.

BTW, I’m quite certain that you can come up with quotes from much more reputable and intelligent people than the English Actor Richard Griffiths, with reference to fascism.

  2. Tom's Right Says:

Richard Griffiths argued in 2005 that the term fascism is the “most misused, and over-used word of our times”.[26]

    • blueridgeguy Says:

Fascism:A political regime, usually totalitarian, ideologically based on centralized government, government control of business, repression of criticism or opposition, a leader cult and exalting the state and/or religion above individual rights.

      Seems to fit.

    • Sandy Says:

TR- This is for you, as it is very appropriate-

“I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.” Wm. F. Buckley

  3. blueridgeguy Says:

Tom’s Right: VA hospitals are a mess, I guess you don’t remember the big stink about the hospitals during Bush’s term about 2 years ago.

“WASHINGTON — Substandard care at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center appears to extend to the nation’s vast network of veterans hospitals, the head of a House panel investigating the situation said Thursday.” Thursday March 8, 2007 Fox News.com

Medicare will be insolvent by 2017, Social Security is broke our infrastructure is a mess and you use those as examples of government efficiency. You will have to do better then that.

    • Sandy Says:

blueridgeguy- It’s hopeless. TR is obviously the product of an ongoing Liberal education, and has not lived in the real world yet. Look at his reference material, that he suggests I educate myself with- “An Intelligent person’s guide to fascism.” He has been successfully propagandized. That is why the 18-29 year olds came out in support for someone who told them that he will fundamentally change America as we knew it. Michelle Obama said “America is a downright mean country. They have been brainwashed into believing that America, the land of the free, and the home of the brave, is really evil. I wish these people would live for a year in Socialized countries such as Venezuela, France, England or better yet Russia. If they like the system of government in those countries, they can stay there, rather than wanting to change the greatest land, with the most successful form of government that has outlived every other form of governence since it’s inception more than 200 years ago.

      Ahhh- The youts”

“If you are 20 and not a Liberal, you don’t have a heart. If you are 40 and you are not a Conservative, you don’t have a brain.” Sums it up nicely.

  4. Discourse Says:

There’s an inappropriate and inflammatory overuse of terms like Nazism, Fascism, Socialism, etc. These accusations just slow down the process of finding solutions to the discussion at hand:

    http://townhall.com/columnists/MichaelGerson/2009/08/12/hitler_and_health_care

    • Sandy Says:

Discourse- Unfortunately you and I will never be a part of those solutions to the problems we all face in this country. whatever language we use. The Obama administration dances to their own music, sets their own rules, that we all have to abide by, and tells us what is best for us. That is Socialism, which of course will quickly move into Communism once the Liberals successfully cram their laws down our throats.

When I went to school, we were actually taught that Socialism, Marxisn, Fascism, Communism, and all the isms were systems of government that were used in other countries in the world, unsuccessfully. If you read your history you will see the dangers that each of those systems imparts onto their populations. We live in a Republic, and while it may not be perfect for everyone at all times, it is the system that gives each of us more freedom and prosperity than any other form of government. It is the only system that has survived for more than 200 years. You may be willing to give into one of the isms, but I am not. If our country was so terrible, why are we being flooded with so many outsiders? People have actually died trying to escape their governments in order to come to the USA.

      • Discourse Says:

        Sandy,
I don’t know if you own this website. You certainly monopolize it and censor it. Your leaps from the extremes of Left to Right are obscene! I’m assuming you’re the “Charlie McCarthy” to Edgar Bergen.
History is filled with “crazies” who try to stop good things happening in this great country of ours. Good thing they weren’t able to stop so many important changes.
Anyone with any intelligence will leave you to listening to your own voice.

      • Sandy Says:

No Discourse, I don’t own this site, nor am I a paid lackey of insurance companies or special interest groups or anyone else for that matter. I am a very concerned and freightened American citizen with the direction the Liberals are taking us in. If you have any problems with my posts or how many times I post, then complain to the site owner, blueridgeguy. If the only thing you have to offer is to take pot shots at me personally, rather than add any valid arguments to the content of my posts, then I might be interested in what you have to say. Then again, I find it not inappropriate or inflammatory to use terms such as Socialism when they are most appropriate, and fitting for the current Liberal Administration and President. Would you prefer if I just referred to the President and Liberals in Congress as “those elites that consider the American citizens as puppets whose string they will control”?

BTW- I have no doubt that you are referring to those of us who will fight against the government takeover of the Healthcare system as those “crazies” that kept horrible things from happening in history. It will be a great thing for American history to defeat that slow creep into Socialism. That slow creep will come to a screetching halt in November 2010.
